FAQ
How do I donate to the IEEF?
Donating is easy. Click here to learn how.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
For U.S. citizens, yes. If you donate directly to the IEEF, your donation is tax-deductible. If you donate through Itron Gives you can easily access a receipt in the system. If you donate another way, contact IEEF and we can email or mail you a receipt. Keep in mind, if you donate directly to an employee, your donation is not tax-deductible.
Are donations anonymous?
Yes, donations are anonymous, except to the IEEF board who process them.
Are applications anonymous?
No, applications are not entirely anonymous. Applicants must provide identifying information, including their name, on their application. This information is shared only as necessary among IEEF board members. Applications are initially reviewed by one or two board advocates before being presented to the board for approval. During this presentation, identifying details are redacted, ensuring the applicant remains anonymous to all but the presenting board member(s). If a grant is awarded, the IEEF treasurer accesses the full application to process the payment. The IEEF takes privacy seriously and does not disclose information about grant applicants or recipients to anyone outside of the IEEF.
Can I apply for a grant if I have never contributed to the IEEF?
Yes! We will consider supporting anyone who meets grant qualifications. You do not have to donate to IEEF to receive funds.
Are current Board members eligible for a grant?
No, current board members are not eligible, but past board members can apply for grants.
How do I join the Board?
We’re glad you’re interested in joining the Board! Fill out an application and submit it to an IEEF board member.
Are Board members compensated for their efforts?
No. Board members volunteer their time to run IEEF.
